Kenzie adopted!

Our precious Kenzie has been adopted by an amazing family.  She was  brought to our Animal Hospital and she was really sick.  Our veterinarian and her team saved this girl and figured out what was wrong with her.  She was 19 pounds when she was first brought in.  She needed to be hospitalized and stabilized for 4 months.  While she was at the hospital her owners contacted us to see if we would take her as they felt they were not able to provide what she needed being a diabetic pup.  They surrendered her to us and we continued with her care at our vet clinic.   Our veterinarian and her team got her insulin levels regulated and she started gaining weight and most importantly they gave her lots of love.  She really felt it was her home and was extremely comfortable there and loved her vet hospital family.

It was time to call in the our walkers to start taking her outside and getting used to new people and places.  The outside world had become very scary to her.  The walkers spent lots of time with her and this helped get her ready to leave when the big day came.  Kenzie was going to need a VERY special home -- one that would not only give her tons of love but was also willing to give her 2 injections a day and be patient as she is prone to having lots of potty accidents due to her condition.  A special family had seen Kenzie on our website and put in their application specifically for her.  They had been extremely thorough in researching diabetes in dogs and had spoken with her vet and a specialist.  This family knew what they were getting into with Kenzie.

The whole family came to meet her and then came back to pick her up and settle in. We thought Kenzie would be extremely anxious and nervous in her new home but she literally waltzed into her new home and unpacked her bags.  She snuggled with them all on the furniture and was very sweet from the get go!  She still has challenges with potty accidents but they are working on that.  They love this girl for who she is with all of her imperfections.

Very few families would be willing to take on a pup with challenges like those that Kenzie has but they were extremely thorough, thoughtful and conscientious in their decision to adopt her.  This is a Golden Shamrock Miracle! Thanks to all of our donors to help us make this adoption happen!
